Though I'm not a big fan of Martin's adult fiction, I very much enjoy the "tongue in cheek" humor found in her non-fiction, such as this book. She has a real way with words and puts a new spin on all the old Bible stories we have all been taught since nursery class in Sunday School. Some of the sentences have to be re-read to be fully comprehended and appreciated for their wit. This book would be enjoyable even to those who may have no Biblical background, because she sticks to the basic facts and helps us all to relate to the figures in the stories. If someone is looking to be spiritually encouraged, any chapter in this book would be a good read.

I found this book encouraging & humorous. It gives you a different view of women in the Bible. They weren't perfect, they were human, and they struggled just like we do today, but we can learn from how they handled situations. LaJoyce Martin has a refreshing positive attitude that sets an example for all Christian women.

I only intended to read the first few pages and ended up reading the whole book in one sitting. The writing is fast paced and easy to read. The story is gripping. It is the kind of book that will change the way you look at life.

I LOVE this book. It is a well-written, personal account of a family. It spans from fun carefree days to the realization of prejudice. It is not about the man, it is about the boy. It was not graphic in it's description of violence and hatred, which made it completely appropriate for my six year old (who also really enjoyed the book). And the poem at the end was the perfect ending. GET THIS BOOK!

I loved this book because whenever i read a biogaphy I always want to hear from someone who really knew the person and in this book by Martin Luther King's sister, Christine King Farris, I get that perspective. Farris writes beautifully and poetically about their childhood and sheds light on the experiences and influences that shaped MLK to be the great inspirational leader that he was. I highly recommend this wonderful biography!

I may not be an impartial reviewer. I first met Douglas A. Martin in 1995 at Lollapalooza, in Atlanta, where we were both performing in the Spoken Word sideshow. He's an extraordinary poet and the poems in this collection are some of my favorites. They're charged, atmospheric, confessional, evocative, direct, funny, tragic.

This is a great book if you're into pictures of the guys (which I am). There are a lot of pictures I'd never seen before (including a very rare one of Lance crying). I've had this book for over a year, and still enjoy it a lot!

For the first time ever in the history of all 'N Sync books, we come upon one that had a lot of fan imput included when put together. A general posting on an egroups list calling for quotes led me to submit something that got into a book for the first time ever. I have to say what an honor it is to have something that you submitted put into a book. I don't love it just because I'm in it but also because real fans from all over are included in it.

I was so impressed with my copy that I bought another for my cousin for Christmas, who encouraged me to begin quilting by swapping quilting squares monthly. This will make a fantastic addition for her quilting library as well. The index allows for quilt square sizes, the beautiful diagrams and the measurements for cutting make this such a wonderfully simplistic way to learn or expand your quilting knowledge. I have also used it to make quilt squares for swaps at my local quilt club. Since it is a perpetual calendar, you use it every year. Five stars just isn't enough!

This perpetual calendar with a majority of pieced patterns for rotary cutting will delight any quilter. Inspiration for new projects, Block of the Month, and just a lovely place to rest your eyes. The paper and spiral are good quality and should last many years.

The title says it all: Compact articles about 100 places to see wildlife. There are some decent photos, but the focus of the book is on information rather than art. Each article gives the key information on what is to be seen at each site, and advises on the best time of year to visit. The focus is on the natural history here, there is little information on where to stay or dine. But those topics can be left to more "ordinary" guides! Incidentally, the 100 sites are well-distributed across the country, and I even learned of one in my own state that I didn't know about .
If the topic excites you, I predict you will find the book valuable.

For the nature lover and wildlife enthusiast, this little book is a must-have! It's informative, interesting, full of fabulous photos, and makes finding wildlife in any state easy. Includes best times to go, contact information, and directions for getting to the sites, as well as other tips.

Negotiating Commercial Real Estate Leases is a well crafted, superbly presented instructional guide for the business owner and a "must read" before signing a lease. Readers will learn the obvious and not-so-obvious differences between so-called "standard" landlord and tenant leases; the critical economic and legal issues implicated in lease clauses; which points are most easily negotiated under what situations and which points aren't worth the time spent negotiating; what alternative clauses and solutions can be offered to create a leasing deal that works for both the business tenant and the building landlord. Negotiating Commercial Real Estate Leases will save the prospect business tenant a great deal of time, money, aggravation, and future real estate leasing-related disappointments.

Absolutely the best real estate book I have read. This is not a get rich quick scam. It disects commercial real estate transactions using a sequence similar to that of an actual sales contract. He points, step by step, to each part of the negotiation process from both the buyers and sellers point of view. Then he explores negotiating options that lead to mutually beneficial result. I have read and studied this book. It is absolutley invaluable to me, and I am not even in the commercial end of the business. I would think that any broker, realtor or principal who negotiates complex real estate transactions would benefit from this book. Why doesn't he write more? It's a shame.

Matin's tale of a broadcast giant trying to influence politics via a in-home cable response system, is as entertaining as it is relevant with todays internet capabilities. A fast enjoyable read with enough adventure, crime, and science to thrill non-stop. WARNING: Book does not come with bulletproof vest. (The only way to put this book down is at gunpoint, and you may opt for the bullet.)

While chronologically Martin's second novel, it is a clear departure from his now more familiar style of historical narration first used in Back Bay and then in his last three novels. Martin demonstrates his story telling ability without relying on history as a frame work. I was hooked from the first chapter and plowed through the near 500 page book in less than two days. Martin displays an uncanny abilty to lead the reader in one direction then turning the plot quickly almost 180 degrees while maintaining the integrity of the story. More than once I was totally surprised. It made for a most enjoyable read.

For fans of Martin's more contemporary works this is an enjoyable change of pace, yet shows all the craftmanship in storytelling we have come to expect from Martin.

While the best known works of Martin are historical, this book may accurately be classified as premonition. Published in 1984, Martin accurately predicts what has become a core problem in American society. If for no other reason the book should be read for this, but it is a great story.

"New York, New York!" starts with a journal entry by Claudia Kishi about her plans to take an art class in New York City during her two-week school vacation. One thing leads to another, and the entire BSC is on their way to New York for two weeks. What I liked most about "New York, New York!" (and every other Super Special) is the change in character point of view with each chapter. Although this is primarily Claudia's book (she compiled everybody's diary entries and letters and then included some illustrations--which were drawn by Ann M. Martin's father, Henry R. Martin), everybody in the BSC had a chance to share their fun and excitement in New York. This is definitely a must-read for BSC fans, especially those who love the Big Apple.
